My Dream

My Dream
dreams of rains
and of the colors of sage

I dream of the tangible closeness of your hands across my heart, dreams of perfect tears
we love beautifully
We were sacred

Illusions of the red day and of how you sang
when the drum was in balance
I dream of the night you held me so tight in the night of no rain, full of monarchs

My dream painted in blue and of the two red roses
it was the corn

When we talked of our Clans

VJ Yazzie

Yuwipi

Sacred stones that dance in the night
Singing the songs of the elders
Scared dreams that take flight

On the wings of an eagle
Like a mother's nourishing womb
Our prayers carried upward
from birth to the tomb

Ancient stones covered by darkness
Come alive in the night.
Sacred voice of the past
Calls us out to the light

Wrapped with the pains of a nation
A life begging to live
The man, the alter
The sacrifice we give

Set free by traditions
That out date the seas
The healing of a people
The healing of me.

Andrew Iron Shell
