One Man's Gestures

The estranged man lays restlessly on the couch,
Panting and revolted with the pressures of this world,
Time is of the essence to get thigns done,
But he's preoccupied by a hyper-active child.
The child cries endlessly within the confines of the bedroom,
Murmurs and repeats what has transpired,
"Come in here and say you're sorry, Dad,"
To no avail is moaning continues to resound.
Pacing to agitate the anger in his heart,
Feeling guilty for his mind is oppressed by reality.

Someday ... for Joey

Some morning, if you should follow this path north...
Into a place of sunrise's gold and evergreens...
Place the morning dew on your skin.

Some evening, if you should follow this path north...
Into a place of tall white pines and cedar...
Place your skin next to their heart.

Some night, if you should follow this path north...
Into a place of northern lights and fireflys...
Place your heart next to the fire and stay.
